Daycare Policies

RESERVATIONS: While drop-ins are allowed at the Playhouse, paperwork must be completed and reservations are strongly encouraged. Without a reservation, we cannot guarantee there will be a spot available for your child unless you have a reservation for a specific time and have turned in paperwork. However, drop-ins are gladly welcome as long as we have room. 

CHECKING-IN/CHECKING-OUT: All children must be signed-in and signed-out from the daycare. All persons checking-out a child must be on an approved list that is signed by the child's guardian and must show a state issued ID before the child will be released into the person's care. If our caregivers ever have questions about who is picking-up a child, we will contact the child's guardian before allowing the child to be checked-out. Also, because we offer drop-in, part-time, and full-day care, it is very important that you pick up your child on-time. Please always confirm your drop-off and pick-up times!

 Note: Additional charges of $5 will occur for every 10 minutes a child is left after scheduled pick up times. 

DATE NIGHT/EXTENDED HOURS: We offer late nights and weekend care, by reservation only. Prepayment is required. To reserve late night or weekend care, please call us. 

PAYMENT: We require a credit card or bank account on file to keep accounts current. There is a $10 payment card decline fee and $25 ACH decline fee, so please keep your account information current.

MEALS: We serve Lunch between 11:00-12:30. We always offer water, crackers, and other light snacks to all children. If you would like to purchase a meal for your child it is $8.00 per meal. It is not included in your daily tuition. You may bring your own lunch and snacks for your child please just make sure they are all labeled. Water Bottles are also recommended.

DIAPER CHANGING: If your child is not all the way potty trained, please bring them in diapers or pull-ups. Please bring your own diapers and wipes, otherwise diapers are available for $2.00 each. We check and change diapers regularly, and we have frequent potty breaks. However, please always bring a change of clothing as we do not have clothing for children to change into in the event an accident happens. If you have dropped your child off without a change of clothes and an accident does happen, we will call you to come pick up your child.

EQUIPMENT AND TOYS: We clean and sanitize our toys on a strict weekly schedule. In the event a toy get dirty or is not in great working order, we remove it from the play area for cleaning and/or repairing right away. We do our best to keep all toys safe and sanitary. And we always accept toy donations that are clean and in good condition.

DISCIPLINE POLICY: We encourage children to self-regulate through positive guidance. Your child may be redirected to another activity, or given other choices in the event there is a dispute between children. Sharing is always encouraged by our staff. Children who demonstrate physical aggression may need to be put in the “thinking area” away from other children, but still under watch of our staff. Staff will always communicate with parents on the behavior of their child during their stay. Poppy’s Playroom reserves the right to revoke the use of our facility by any child who may compromise the safety and well-being of our program. The following will absolutely not be tolerated at our facility: corporal punishment; isolating a child; withholding food, rest, or sleep; or frightening, demeaning, or humiliating a child.

SICK CHILDREN: Please do not bring your child to our facilities if he or she is sick! This is for the benefit of your child and for the other children who use our services. The following is a list of symptoms that indicate your child should refrain from visiting our facility:

• Fever: Note that fever is defined as having a temperature of 100°F or higher taken under the arm, 101°F taken orally, or 102°F taken rectally. For children 4 months or younger, the lower rectal temperature of 101°F is considered a fever threshold; (a child needs to be fever free for a minimum of 24 hours before returning to daycare, that means the child is fever free without the aid of Tylenol®, or any other fever reducing substance.

• Fever AND sore throat, rash, vomiting, diarrhea, earache, irritability, or confusion.

• Diarrhea: runny, watery, bloody stools, or 2 or more loose stools within the last 4 hours.

• Vomiting: 2 or more times in a 24 hour period. Note: please do not bring your child if they have vomited in the night.

• Breathing trouble, sore throat, swollen glands, loss of voice, hacking or continuous coughing.

• Runny nose (other than clear), draining eyes or ears.

• Frequent scratching of body or scalp, lice, rash, or any other spots that resemble childhood diseases, including ringworm.

• Child is irritable, continuously crying, or requires more attention than we can provide without hurting the health, safety, or well-being of the other children in our care.

• Note: Poppy’s Playroom reserves the right to refuse entry to any child who may exhibit the above symptoms. If your child becomes sick while in our care, we will contact you immediately.

SOME IMPORTANT REMINDERS BEFORE YOUR VISIT:

• Bring extra diapers, wipes and a change of clothes.

• Label all your belongings including food and drinks.

• Be on time for your drop-offs and pick-ups.

• Notice is required in the event your child is sick or doesn't come to daycare. This will ensure that we do not give away your regular spot to someone else.
